Matthew 28: 19-20 NKJV
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Luke 4:18 NKJV
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed."
On Saturday, April 27, 2002, a total of 17 people gathered in the living room of the Phill’s residence to hold the first charter member’s meeting for A Safe Place Christian Center which is currently known as A Safe Place Church. Not many had heard Pastor Stan’s sermons, but they had seen his walk with Christ. Pastor Stan gave a message of hope to the friends and family members who attended, and they adopted his vision. On that day, A Safe Place Christian Center was born! The meeting concluded with everyone committing to the commission that was presented and a prayer asking God to order their steps.
On Sunday, May 5, 2002, the vision became a reality, and the first worship experience was held in the Flamingo Room at the University of Houston – Hilton Hotel. Pastor Stan administered communion and delivered a message to the congregation, “How to Become a Unified Church” (Ephesians 4:11-16).
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the [edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love (NKJV).
A Safe Place Church family has a heart for people. We believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ . We stand in the truth that everyone has an “it” (something they are struggling to overcome) and need a safe place to praise, worship and heal.
Ephesians 4:5 – “All saved Christians are part of a single, unified family, part of the ''body'' of Christ.... All Christians should turn away from the ''old self'' we were prior to being saved.”
